To provide students with hands-on experience in the field of modern naval power systems, the “Mircea cel Bătrân” Naval Academy has chosen to implement a comprehensive system for the generation, control, and monitoring of electrical energy in its laboratory.
The solution was developed and installed by Watermota SRL and includes two BAUDOUIN diesel generator sets with capacities ranging from 80 to 120 kVA at 3×400 VAC / 50 Hz. ComAp InteliDrive DCU Marine controllers were used to control and monitor the engines, integrated with InteliSys NT Base Box controllers for managing the generator sets.
The system is complemented by 12-inch InteliVision displays installed on the main electrical panel, which enable the monitoring of parameters and the centralized management of the entire energy production and distribution system.
An important aspect of the solution is connectivity and data access. Motor and generator data can be collected via an API and transmitted to a SCADA system for external display and monitoring. In addition, the integration of InternetBridge 4G modems enables remote monitoring, providing quick access to essential system information.
Technology for Hands-On Experience
By implementing this Power Management System (PMS), the laboratory at the “Mircea cel Bătrân” Naval Academy provides students with a modern environment where they can understand and test, under practical conditions, how the energy systems used in the naval field operate and are managed.
